What a teacher is,

is more important that what she teaches.

-Karl Menninger

The majority of my years in public education have been devoted to the Esko Public Schools. I love teaching and the rewards of watching my students learn and grow. Winterquist Elementary School is a wonderful place, and I look forward to working with your family.

Born and raised in the Esko community, I am blessed to be "back home" raising a family and working in the school I was priviledged to attend. I left Esko to attend the College of Saint Benedict/St. John's University. I traveled abroad in 2000 to further my studies in Seville, Spain. Upon return to the States, I received my BA degree in Elementary Education & Spanish. I moved back to the area and started my professional career as the Spanish Specialist for Kenwood Edison Charter School in Duluth. This wonderful opportunity lead me "home" to Winterquist Elementary School, which I am grateful. I also completed my MA degree in Reading Instruction in 2002 from UW-Superior.

In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students. I believe that great things can happen when we ALL work together, so I emphasize the idea of teamwork. Together Everyone Accomplishes More!

When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I reside in Esko. We have two sons, Jackson and Nolan. Reading, walking, visiting with friends over coffee, and relaxing at the cabin are a few of my favorite things.
