Today was a busy Wednesday. After calendar and daily math, we got into language arts. We talked about genres of books, and the boys and girls read a poem about a dog. We reviewed spelling words and vocabulary. We also talked about long vowel sounds. Then we finished up stations. On Wednesdays we are going to start going to the computer lab as a class to do AR testing. When the boys finish a book at their AR level (a good fit level!) they can test on it. They can only do these at school, but you as parents can view them at home (the way I understand it). After lunch we had Math where we worked in partners to come up with addition story problems and solve them on our whiteboards. We practiced our make-a-ten flashcards before we had time to get some unfinished work done. We ended our day with Computer, daily 5 stamina building (we went from a record 23 minutes to 13 :( ...and then PE. Good day! Enjoy the beautiful weather. Math story problems

Today we had a good morning. We did our daily math warm up where we reviewed different strategies we have learned for solving addition and subtraction problems. Then we got into our language arts. We worked with our vocab and robust vocab for the week. We also read the story "Henry and Mudge," as a group. Then we had our daily 5 center time before we worked in our handwriting journals. This afternoon I will be at a data retreat awhile the boys and girls enjoy PE and Music. They will be taking their Unit 1 test in Social Studies. They will be working with make-a-ten flash cards in math, as well as filling out a fun "Math About Me!" sheet. Enjoy your Tuesdays!

What a good Monday! We started with calendar and learned what our new jobs for the week are. Then we did our daily math warm up followed by our language arts lesson. We are working with main idea and supporting details. I read a few short stories to the boys and girls and they had to give me the main idea and details. Then we took a spelling test. If they got all 10 words correct they will only test on the challenge words on Friday. In language arts we are also working with long vowel sounds. We talked about the bossy e, and how it always yells at letters to say their name (you might see the boys and girls circled the 'e's on their spelling test and drew a line towards the letter it is bossing around). We did centers where we practiced our spelling words using first our dominate hand, then writing them with our other hand! We wrote a letter to our star student, and worked with the teacher in small group. After lunch we started Unit 2 in Social Studies. This unit is about places and regions. Today we discussed the vocab for the chapter-natural resources, continent, climate, and landform. We had PE and library, then we did a math lesson on Make-a-Ten. We finished with read aloud and Silent Ball :) Reminders: Activity Fund $30 in please :) Skate $ in We still need 5 more cereal boxes Wed Oct 9 wear orange for bullying day

Today was a great day for us! We did our morning meeting along with a review math lesson. We worked with math mountains, partner houses, and counting on. Then we did a language arts lesson focusing on vocabulary and punctuation. It was national Punctuation Day yesterday and we read a fun book called "Exclamation Mark." After this we read a fictional book about frogs. Then we got into center work. There we met with the teacher, read-to-someone, did a story starter about 'My Family," and practiced our robust and sight words. We had lunch followed by a math lesson where we practiced counting on by being store owners and buyers. The boys and girls had wallets with money that they walked around with and 'purchased' items. They had to give the correct amount of change back. We had some extra time to finish unfinished work before we went outside (to make up for not having computer today due to testing). Then the kiddos went to PE, followed by a read aloud and home! Wonderful day for us today :) Tomorrow we are looking forward to another good day, with a substitute teacher in the afternoon. Happy Monday! Today was a productive day. We started our 2nd week of language arts. We took a spelling test, and the students know if they scored 100% today they will test on the challenge words ONLY on Thursday. After this we learned some new vocabulary and robust vocabulary (covered, everything, guess, through, woods, surprised pleased; edge, ventured, described, hesitate, anonymous, unselfish, and satisfied). For centers we wrote a letter to our new star students, did an "I spy" sight words activity, did read to self, and had small group instruction time with the teacher. After lunch we had PE and library along with our final day of MAP computer testing. We did a math lesson on counting on to solve mystery addition and subtraction equations. HW tonight!
