We had a great Wednesday today! We did some unfinished work at our seats, and cheered on the Esko boys basketball while they ran through the halls for their state sendoff. Then we did a langauge arts lesson followed by centers. We ended up getting to take our class picture before recess, so that was nice! We had lunch and then a math lesson on comparison graphing. The boys and girls did really well with this. They did two practice assignments before working on their classmate biographies. They had computer, snack, and PE! Reminders: Newspaper

Today was a busy and productive day!  This morning we had language arts.  In language arts today, we learned more about our sound for the week.  We are working on the long a sound and we are working on the spelling pattern a_e. We read the story "The Missing Cake",  we worked on describing things by telling how many, and we read and practiced writing a play.  Science today was observing more of our mealworms.  We noticed that some of our mealworms are molting (shedding their skin).  Also, some of our mealworms have went into their next stage of life called a pupa. After lunch/recess, we had music and PE.  For math today we worked more on finding 1/2 of something and 1/4 of something.  We also had some more practice with fractions.  We all noticed that the bigger the number is on the bottom that really means the smaller the piece is.  For example, 1/3 is bigger than 1/4. Have a nice night! Remember that tomorrow is Spring Picture Day!  :)

We had a great morning writing biographies about our classmates! Then we enjoyed going to St. Scholastica for the performance of Junie B. Jones! The kids had a blast and loved it. Reminders: We are in need of newspaper that is cut into one inch strips, like for the Christmas wreaths. So far we have 0. Over the next few weeks if you could collect and bring this in, it would be much appreciated :) Thank you!

Today was such a great day!  We had a lot of fun during math centers.  We played UNO with Ceci's grandma, played a fraction pizza game, and practiced our doubles.  We realized that the bigger the bottom number on a fraction gets, the smaller in size it is.  Then, we observed our mealworms.  Ask your child what is happening to their mealworms.  It is so cool!  This afternoon we worked on our sound, our new high frequency words, and wrote a thank you note to St. Scholastica.  The play there yesterday was great!  We had so much fun!  Then, we earned a party with tally marks so we ended our day outside, enjoying this great weather!  I can't wait to see you all tomorrow.

Today was a very fun day!  We went on our first field trip this afternoon to the Junie B. Jones play at St. Scholastica.  It was a lot of fun and the play was awesome!!  We will have a chance to chat about the play and write some things about it tomorrow.  This morning before we headed off to St. Scholastica, we did some math and went to music.  In math today, we worked on finding halves and fourths of a dollar. It made it a lot easier when we brought up the quarter and discussed how many quarters there are in a dollar.  When your child is at home doing his/her math remind him/her that when you are trying to find a fourth of something, find half of the half!  (What is half of 12? 6.  What is half of 6? 3. So 3 is one fourth, because it is half of the half).  We will continue practicing this at school.  It is a hard concept.  I hope everyone has a nice night.  Get outside and enjoy this BEAUTIFUL weather! :) See you in the morning!

Today we got started on Lesson 21 of our language arts. This chapter works with the dipthony /ou/ spelled ou and ow. We took a spelling pre-test and then did some smartboard work. We learned about present-tense action verbs. We wrote a letter to our star student Sophia, and learned who our next star student is. Then we got to work finishing our centers.    We read a little Junie B Jones to get ready for our field trip tomorrow. Then we had recess.    In science we are talking about different types of plants. In our science journals we drew a picture of a forest, labeling the moss, ferns, trees, etc.    We had PE and library, snack, and then a math lesson on graphing "Words on my Mind" Read-to-someone Listen to Reading

Today was a great Friday!  Miss C. was excited to be back.  We started our day taking our spelling test.   This was by far the best spelling test this year.  The kids have come so far.  Then we had math where we worked with halves and fourths.  After that, we were introduced to our mealworms!  Some of us were a little hesitant in holding the mealworms, but most of us held at least one.  They are not slimy at all!  They are actually hairy.  They tickled!  We LOVE science.  After lunch, we met with our third grade buddies.  Then we started our language arts assessment.  After snack and music, Mrs. Pfister came since she is Nolan's mom!  We had so many questions for her!  Then, we finished up our assessment and had Cmart for the rest of our day!  I can't wait to see you all on Monday for the Junie B. Jones play!

Happy Friday!   We spent the morning working on finishing our theme 4 testing and then we did math in the morning for a change. We talked about all the different kinds of graphs we know about. We then chose a topic and took a survey, recording the information we found in a bar or picture graph.   We had lunch and music, then did a little more math before getting started on a St. Patty's Day craft. We had computer, cashed in our turtle time, and ate our snacks!   Surveying our classmates Playing "Words on my Mind" Art Time! Reminders: Tuesday is our field trip to Junie B Jones! Please bring your permission slip and $5!

We had a GREAT day!  We got to come to school in our jammies.  We had Daily 5 this morning.  At the word work center we finished our spelling scrabble.  At the writing center, we described a place.  We had library and computer.  In science today we got our MEALWORMS!  They were super cool!  They like to dig in their food.  We learned that the four things that mealworms need to live are:  air, water, space, and food!  Math today was learning about symmetry.  In order for something to be symmetrical it has to be exactly the same on both sides!  Our day ended with eating ice cream sundaes and watching a movie!  Have a great night.  See you back here on Friday!

Busy day in the classroom today!   We met for our morning meeting and then did some more theme 4 testing. After that we did a language arts lesson and reviewed parts of a book (index, glossary, table of contents). We reviewed adjectives and our robust words. Then we did a quick spelling activity before taking a spelling test.   Grandma Marge came in to read with us today before we went to lunch. Then we had music where we got to listen to a band! We did a quick science lesson on parts of plants before heading to PE.   After PE we took a break for snack and then took our time math test before getting into the next unit!
