Today we had graduation practice again for the first 3/4 of our morning. When we got back, we did some station work that included a review of math partners, a writing frame of "When I grow up I want to be..." and some math and reading games. I pulled students to test 1st grade math. After this we did a craft about our summer Bucket List. They had fun with this! *Reminder: We only perform at the 9:00am showing of graduation. You may take your child from my classroom after. Please remember their portfolios. *The field trip is all day. Your child needs to bring a sack lunch with them. Thank you.

Today we spent about an hour and a half practicing for graduation. It is going to be awesome! :) The kids and teachers cannot wait for you to come watch! You are welcome to take your child home after, but please don't forget to grab their portfolio I will be sending home Friday :) You can see all the wonderful things they have done this year that they are proud of! After practice we worked on stations for a bit and I tested students in math. Then we had animal crackers and a story, then home!

Today we spent the better part of our morning practicing for graduation...in the theater! It went very well and the kiddos were very patient with everything. Way to go! When we came back we did a mini language arts lesson, reviewing Q and Z. Then we did station work while I tested students in a 'beginning of the year' 1st grade test. So far that is going very well. We finished with animal crackers and a story. Reminder: ALL DAY field trip on Thursday, May 30th. Bring a sack lunch.

Today was a fun but busy Friday! We started with some unfinished work, did a quick calendar, a quick language arts lesson, then got into centers. Today they learned how to play a kindergarten yahtezze game. We also did some review writing of sight words and a shape assignment. I pulled kids to work on their beginning of the year 1st grade test. We did these at the beginning of kindergarten and now at the end to show growth and make sure they are ready for 1st grade. **I will be sending home a flyer, but I am going to be offering summer tutoring through Esko's community ed department. This will most likely be on tuesdays/weds throughout the summer, as a way to keep the childrens minds fresh over their long two month break! I will be offering it in a small group of 2-3 students, working on each students specific needs. I can make it as intense or as fun as needed :). I can also do individual tutoring if there is an interest. This is for all grade levels and the cost will be $16.50/45minutes. You can do as many days as you'd like over the summer. For more information contact me to Christine Walther--Community Education 879-4038. Enjoy your weekend!

Today we got a lot done. We started with unfinished work, then headed up to the computer lab to do our math MAP testing. Our scores were very good. After that we came back and started on review centers. We did a math partner center, a free writing choice center, a sight word work center, and some learning games. The boys and girls got to read in small groups with Mrs. Jenn, and Mrs. Debbie and I pulled students for Q4 testing. After center time we did our Q4 large group reading tests. The boys and girls did great! We got them all done in one setting :) Wonderful. We had some animal crackers and a Skippyjon Jones story. Fun Friday tomorrow!

Today we did some quarter 4 reading testing. Tomorrow we will have MAP math testing as well as a whole class testing in the classroom. We worked on odds and ends the first part of our morning. We finished up some bug writings we were doing, where the children looked through a bug book i had read to them and described a bug of their choosing. We also did a few language arts sight words games, and a write the room. We also learned the robust word famished. We had graduation practice. They are sounding amazing! It is going to be great. I've had to choke back tears a few times at how proud I am of them! I can't wait until you see them :) We finished the day with Alec's bday treats and 10 minutes of play outside! :) Beautiful out!

Today we learned a new sight word: that. We worked on changing beginning parts of words such as "fox...now change the /f/ to a /b/...box!" They are getting quick at this. We reviewed our robust words lively, ravenous, estimate (from math), and quarrel. Then we learned the word lethargic (sluggish and tired. no energy).  It is one of my biggest rewards watching them use those correctly and in context! :)   We had graduation practice then came back and did stations. There, they practice the letterQq. They wrote a sentence frame about their favorite animal. They put together a spring puzzle, then played toss it.   We ended with a short review math lesson on teen numbers and displaying them in a logical order.   We celebrated Annika's summer birthday with cupcakes!   Have a great afternoon!   *If your child has a summer birthday and wants to celebrate it during the year, let me know when and I'll help make it special!   *MAP testing on Thursday AM for math. Get a good nights sleep!   *Field trip $$!

Today was a productive Monday. We started by MAP testing reading on the computers. I got a chance to peek at their scores--good job all around! Then we did a language arts lesson followed by centers. There they did a math partners activity, a sentence frame to "They gave me a little...", a chick craft, and a science seed poem. We learned/reviewed the robust words quarrel (to fight), hollow, scurry, ravenous (so hungry!), and lively (lots of life/energy). Afterwards we played "What's on my back?" Then we did a math lesson on estimating. They now know that means to make a smart or educated guess. We did a practice sheet on this, then did a writing activity about bugs (to go along with a book we read). We had animal crackers and read "Have you filled a bucket today?" We talked about how everyone carries an imaginary bucket around, and you get to choose if you add to their bucket/happiness, or if you are a dipper and take away. Working on partners of numbers as a review

Today we got alot done. We started with language arts and learned the sight word little. We reviewed the /u/ sound, and the words there and give.   Then we worked on saying a word, then leaving part of the word out. "Ten. Now say ten without the /t/.... /en/!"  For center time we finished some work we didn't get to yesterday, then created our own stories using beginning, middle, and end parts. We finished stations played an "I Spy Aquarium" game working on matching letters. Early finishers had some free time while they waited for math. We ended with a snack of fruit snacks, story, and home! Have a great weekend! I will be gone tomorrow.
